Manufacture of plastics
Calcium carbonate powder is used in many plastic products from the oil industry.
Addition of calcium carbonate improves some of the physical properties of the plastic product.
It makes it resistant to deformation. It increases its stability & resistance.
It also has a good appearance & texture.
The use of calcium carbonate in the plastics industry reduces the cost of production because it is much cheaper than oil and other raw materials, and some plastic products containing calcium carbonate pipes, , Electrical wiring, some parts of electrical equipment, some car parts, children’s toys, films, plastic garbage bags, tableware, food preservatives and dishes, chairs, sanitary materials and decorations, glue … etc.
Paper Industry
The largest consumer of calcium carbonate and controlled 40% of the global demand of carbonate, 22.2 million tons of calcium carbonate was used in the paper industry in 2004 and in 2008 was consumed 23 million tons. The paper industry needs soft, processed carbonates. Calcium carbonate powder is used in the manufacture of paper, not only in whitening, but also from acidic to neutral, and thus it is good for keeping it for very long periods without rot, as in newsprint, which is acidic paper, Wrapping paper, sculpture paper, advertising paper,
Pharmaceutical industry
Manufacture of birds feed
It is used in fertilizers for example as feed for poultry and birds to strengthen egg husks.
Portland cement industry
Limestone represents the basic structure of this industry where it is mixed with non-metallic mineral materials that are prepared and chemically treated. Lime is the main material in this industry, not less than (76%).
Manufacture of animal feed and agricultural fertilizers
In the agricultural field, calcium carbonate powder is used to neutralize alkaline soil for livestock and fish.
It is also used in the process of marine agriculture as a process of planting and growing prawns and is also used as a medicine for animals
Manufacture of brick blocks
It is used and cut in a regular way to certain sizes for the manufacture of bricks and also used in calcium carbonate grinding plants for various uses
Painting Industry
Calcium carbonate is introduced as a filler to improve some of the natural properties of the coating such as thermal resistance, thermal conductivity, density, viscosity control, gonorrhea prevention, absorption prevention in wood surfaces. Low cost reduces cost, which is a basic material in the paint industry.
Glass Industry
The glass industry is an example of how limestone is used in its industry.
Most of the glass industry consists of a mixture of silica, sodium carbonate, calcium oxide, and the role of calcium oxide to maintain the chemical composition of the glass. The limestone used should be pure and contain as little iron oxides as possible
